Marc Alan Akerman

Marc Alan Akerman, 48, of Ridgefield, died on Monday, April 15, 2024. He was the loving husband of Carin (Juthnas) Akerman and devoted father of Benjamin and Linnea Akerman.

Marc was born in Yonkers, NY on February 25, 1976; a son of Sigel and Martha (Harkonen) Akerman. A lifelong resident of Ridgefield, Marc bled orange and black. The friends he made in Ridgefield were closer to him than most families. He made fun of anybody who was not from Ridgefield.

His favorite place in the world was his family’s lake house in Thompson, CT. He enjoyed summers filled with water skiing, camp fires and taking the family on after dinner cruises around the lake on the pontoon boat. Each Sunday he would read the obits in the local Thompson paper which summed up a person’s life in three bullets. He would read them aloud and critique the bullets saying the best ones are sad and funny at the same time. These are Marc’s bullets:

 - Beloved husband, father, son, brother and uncle

 - Loved Ridgefield and all his Ridgefield friends

 - Self-proclaimed best soccer player of all time   

Marc is survived by his wife, Carin and their two children: Benjamin Roger Akerman and Linnea Scarlet Akerman. Marc is also survived by his mother, Martha Hoglund; his brother, Glenn Akerman and his wife, Cassondra, as well as his mother in law, Irene Juthnas; his brother in law, Bill Juthnas and his wife, Karen and his nieces and nephews: Erik, Samantha, Chloe, Logan, Cameron, Brooke and Taylor.

Marc was predeceased by his father, Sigel, his brother, Roger, his step father, Bengt Hoglund, and his father in law, Carl Juthnas.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Saint Andrew’s Lutheran Church; 6 Ivy Hill Road, Ridgefield. Following the funeral service, family and friends may gather at the Lounsbury House; 316 Main Street, Ridgefield for a reception in celebration of Marc’s life from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Interment will take place on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Kensico Cemetery; 273 Lakeview Avenue, Valhalla.
