Dr. Peter Romanow, 71, of Redding, an area periodontist who practiced in Danbury, Ridgefield and at the Center for Dentistry in Trumbull died on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Danbury Hospital after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was the husband of Carol Anne Romanow.
Dr. Romanow was born in Montreal, December 9, 1936, son of the late Henry and Ethel (Seidman) Romanow. He grew up in Boston and Winthrop, MA, graduating from the Huntington School in Boston. Dr. Romanow received his B.A. from Boston University, graduated from New York University School of Dentistry and Boston University School of Periodontal Surgery.
He was a U.S. Army Captain serving with the Dental Corps. stationed at Fort Knox, KY from 1963 to 1965.
Dr. Romanow was a periodontal instructor at the UConn Health Center and volunteered his services at the Danbury Hospital Dental Clinic.
An area resident for the past forty-one years first residing in Danbury and later in Redding, Dr. Romanow was the first to establish a periodontal practice in the Danbury area in 1967. He was beloved by countless patients and friends, and will be remembered for his warmth, inquisitiveness, humor and optimism. Dr. Romanow will be missed and loved always.
Active in the greater Danbury area in past years, he was a past member of the Danbury Rotary Club, the Ridgewood Country Club, the United Jewish Center and the Jewish Federation. He was a member of the American Dental Association, the CT Dental Association and past president of the Danbury Dental Society.  Dr. Romanow was the first president and a charter member of Boy Scout Troop 111, Great Plain School, Danbury.
In addition to his wife Carol Anne, Dr. Romanow is survived by a son; Marc (Allison) Romanow, a daughter, Paula (Kevin) Romanow Etzel and three grandchildren, Charles, Dylan, and Laxmi.
Dr. Romanow was predeceased by a grandson, Hunter.
The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Thursday from 6p.m. to 8p.m.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
