Thomas J. Jarosh

Thomas J. Jarosh, age 55 of Ridgefield, passed away peacefully Friday evening, October 17, 2008 at home surrounded by his three loving daughters. Mr. Jarosh was born in Naperville, Ill., June 5, 1953, son of Donald and Nancy Jarosh. Raised in Pittsburgh, Pa., Tom was the oldest of a boisterous and loving family of 10 children.

Tom graduated from St. Elizabeth Catholic School in Pittsburgh and then received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Tom started work at IBM in 1975 in Cleveland, Ohio, and became a lifelong IBMer with a total of more than 32 years of service to the company. He was still employed by IBM as a vice president in the IBM Systems & Technology Group at the time of his death.

Tom was a loving and devoted father to three daughters and took particular pride and delight in his five grandchildren. He was a member of Silver Springs Golf Club of Ridgefield and an ever-improving golfer. He loved gardening and classical music, and he regularly attended performances of the New York Philharmonic, Metropolitan Opera and New York City Ballet. A resident of Ridgefield since 1995 and Wilton since 1987, Tom was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ridgefield.

Tom is survived by three daughters, Kristy Cory and husband, Bill of Portland, Ore., Shannon Walsh and husband, Kevin of Bryn Mawr, Pa., and Brynn Jarosh of New York City, N.Y.; his mother, Nancy Jarosh of Pittsburgh, Pa.; eight siblings, Anne Rogers and husband, Tim of Pittsburgh, Pa., Mary Weir and husband, Tom of Danville, Pa., Mike Jarosh and wife, Lisa of Pittsburgh, Pa., David Jarosh and wife, Peggy of Pittsburgh, Pa., Kathy Coologhan and husband, Brian of Pittsburgh, Pa., Jim Jarosh and wife, Stacey of Houston, Texas, Jean Madeira and husband, Scott of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Terri Weiss and husband, Charlie of Pittsburgh, Pa. Tom is also survived by five beloved grandchildren and one on the way, Mary Grace, Emma, Christian, Peter and Honorah and a grandchild due in February. He was predeceased by his father, Don Jarosh and younger sister, Patty Jarosh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 21 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield with the Rev. Msgr. Laurence Bronkiewicz officiating. Burial will take place at the direction of the family.
