Michael D. Casey, 64, owner of Casey Fuel Co. and a Ridgefield police commissioner died on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Danbury Hospital.  He fought a 7 year battle with cancer and inspired his friends and family with his bravery and dignity.
Mike was born in Waterbury, November 15, 1944, son of William H. and Valerie (Dyer) Casey.  He graduated from the Portsmouth Benedictine Abbey School of Newport, RI, attended Villanova University, and graduated from the University of Connecticut.
A U.S. Army veteran, Mike served with the Green Berets during the Vietnam War.
He joined the family business of Casey Fuel and Casey Real Estate in 1972 and at the time of his death, was the owner of Casey Fuel in Ridgefield.
A member of the Silver Spring Country Club, he was also a member of St. Mary's Parish, both of Ridgefield.
Mr. Casey is survived by two sons, Shane Casey of Redding, CT, Ford Casey of Denver, CO, their mother, Lee Casey of Ridgefield, CT, two daughters in law, Suzanne Casey of Redding, Jill Casey of Denver, his three siblings; Diane Brown of Brookfield, CT, Ladd Casey of Colorado Springs, CO and Shaun Held of San Raphael, CA, two grandchildren, Quinn Casey and Katherine Casey, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, a sister, Kathleen D. Casey predeceased him.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Ridgefield.
Burial will be private in St. Mary's Cemetary, Ridgefield.
The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Tuesday (today) from 6 PM to 9 PM.
