Joseph E. Barnell

Joseph “Jed” Barnell, 42 of West New York, NJ formerly of Ridgefield, died on Saturday, November 22, 2008 after being stricken ill at home.
Jed was born in Norwalk, CT, March 31, 1966, son of Joseph D. Barnell of Venice, FL and the late Eileen (Cericola) Barnell and attended Ridgefield schools and graduated from Ridgefield High School in the Class of 1984.
He had worked in the box office at the Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center, New York and then relocated to San Francisco, California.  Jed truly enjoyed California. He enjoyed the culinary arts and graduated from the California Culinary Academy in 2005.  After graduation, Jed worked as a chef for several years before returning to the Metropolitan Opera.
Jed enjoyed the outdoors.  He loved to skydive, scuba dive, go mountain biking, ski, hike and golf.  He also loved to travel and had traveled all over the world, including a trip around the world. 
He is survived in addition to his father; Joseph of Venice, formerly of Ridgefield, three sisters; Catherine Tango and her husband Todd of Ridgefield, Mia Muha and her husband Mike of Princeton, NJ and Lisa Petersen and her husband Tor of Singapore, his nieces and nephews; Caitlin, Connor and Lily Tango of Ridgefield, Michael and Joseph Muha of Princeton, NJ and Catie, TJ, Cole and Danny Petersen of Singapore as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends survive.
In addition to his mother; a niece; Molly Tango predeceased him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 29th at 10:15AM in St. Mary’s Church, Ridgefield.
Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Friday (will call back) from    PM to   PM.
