Susan F. Spiegel

Susan F. Spiegel, 58, died on Monday, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer, December 7, 2009 at her home in Port St. Lucie, FL. She was a former resident of Ridgefield and Danbury.
Susan was born in Brooklyn, NY, January 25, 1951, daughter of the late Alfred and Audrey (Russo) Petrie.  She attended and graduated from New York parochial schools, receiving a B.A. in Psychology from Packard University.
In 1974 Susan married Dr. Klaus Spiegel who predeceased her in May of 2008.  They had one child, Patricia, and resided in Ridgefield until 1994.
After her divorce in 1992, Susan pursued and received her Master’s in Social Work from Fordham University and was first employed at St. Vincent’s Hospital and later with the medical practice of Drs. Anton Fry and John Gelinas.
She married Noel Regney in 1994 and remained his adoring wife until his passing in November 2002.
A resident of Port St. Lucie for the past five years, she was employed by Hospice of Treasure Coast.  She will be dearly missed by her co-workers, patients, family and friends.  In addition to helping others, Susan enjoyed music, gardening, her pets and raising orchids.
In addition to her daughter Patricia Gordon, Susan is survived by her son-in- law William, her grandchildren, Gareth of San Francisco CA, Aidan, John-Paul, Liam and Quintan of New Fairfield, Susan is also survived by her life partner, Kathy Macato of Port St. Lucie, FL; a sister, Patricia Dimino and her husband Michael of Jonesburg, TN as well as several nieces, nephews and numerous cousins.
A Memorial Service will take place on Sunday at 1:30PM in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield with the Rev. David Blanchfield, officiating.
The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Sunday after 1PM.
