Walter H. Pfister

Walter H. Pfister, 88, of Danbury, husband of Rose (Cavallaro) Pfister, died on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at the Danbury (CT) Hospital.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY, April 4, 1921, son of the late Frank and Margaret (Jordan) Pfister.  He attended NY schools and graduated from Fordham University.
Mr. Pfister was a retired manager with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.
A World War II veteran, Mr. Pfister was a resident of Danbury for the past two years coming from Galax, Virginia where he resided for twenty years.  He was a resident of Massapequa Park, L.I. New York prior to moving to Galax.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Church of Ridgefield, CT and the NY Council Knights of Columbus.
Woodworking, gardening, raising fruit trees, cultivating grape vines and producing wine and traveling were his pastime enjoyments.
In addition to his wife of fifty-seven years, he is survived by a son, James Pfister of Southold, NY; three daughters, Margaret A. (Frank) DiVittorio of Massapequa Park, L.I., New York, Jane F, Pfister of Raleigh, NC and Mary Ellen (Stephen) Rogers of Ridgefield, CT; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:30am in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 520 Ridgebury Rd., Ridgefield with the Rev. Joseph A. Prince, officiating. 
Burial will take place in Galax, Virginia.
The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield, CT on Thursday from 5pm to 8pm.
