PATRICIA E. (SMITH) MURPHY

Patricia E. (Smith) Murphy, 76, of Jensen Beach Florida and East Orleans, Massachusetts, formerly of Ridgefield, entered into eternal peace on July 9, 2009. She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, John F. Murphy. Patricia was born in Stamford, Connecticut on April 11, 1933 to James and Emily (Kettleton) Smith.

Patricia is also survived by her nine children, Jack Murphy of Old Orchard Beach, ME, Ellen Tarsi and her husband James of Ridgefield, CT, Terrence M. Murphy of Edgerton, WI, Cindy Bruno and her husband Jim of Ridgefield, CT, Debbie Vetromile and her husband Jim of Trumbull, CT, Mark Murphy and his wife Joyce of Waterbury. Stephen Murphy and his wife Michelle of Los Banos, CA, Tim Murphy of Orleans MA, and Donald Murphy and his wife Angela of Danbury, CT. She was the sister of  Richard J. Smith of Leesburg, VA. Patricia was also Nana to 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She will also be missed by her nieces and nephews.

Patricia spent most of her adult life in Ridgefield, CT, where she was a member of both St. Mary Parish and St. Elizabeth Seton Parish. She was a member of the choir at St. Mary’s with her good friend Kathy Rowe and co-president with her husband John of the St. Mary School Parent Association.

Patricia also particularly enjoyed her years as an aid at Ridgefield High School. She worked as an Election Official for the town of Ridgefield. A devoted mother, nothing came before her family. When time allowed Patricia enjoyed reading, travel and camping. Some of her favorite memories are time spent at the beach with her family and sister in-law Betty Murphy. Patricia will be missed by her husband and best friend John and all who loved her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Church, Ridgefield on Wednesday July 15 at 10:15am. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield.
The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Tuesday from 5PM to 8PM.
In lieu of flowers donations in Patricia’s name would be greatly appreciated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org) or your local Visiting Nurse Association.
