SYLVIA  KAUFMAN

Sylvia Kaufman, 94, of Danbury, wife of the late Jerome O. Kaufman died on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Danbury Hospital.

She was born Jaunary 15, 1915 a daughter of Louis and Sara Cantor. She lived most of her life in Far Rockaway, NY and Cedarhurst, NY. 

A Danbury resident for the past three years, she resided at Glen Crest apartments and later Hancock Hall.

She loved the beach and ocean at Atlantic Beach.  Mrs. Kaufman was active in the Congregation of Sharry Tefila of Far Rockaway and served a Vice President of the Sisterhood.

She will be greatly missed by her family.

Sylvia was the loving mother of Sandy Kaufman, daughter in law of Connie Kaufman, grandmother of her beloved Michael Kaufman and his wife Catherine Quinlan Kaufman amd Denise Kaufman Gilbert and her husband James Gilbert. Great grandmother  of and the light of her life, Jack and Joseph Kaufman and Jeffrey and Jordan Gilbert.

In addiotion to her parents and husband, Mrs. Kaufman was predeceased by a sister, Gloria Cantor.

Graveside Funeral Services and Burial will take place Thursday (today) at 2PM in Old Montefiore Cemetery, slics@montefiores.com , 121-83 Springfield Blvd., Springfield Gardens, Queens, NY with Rabbi Clifford Librach of the United Jewish Center of Danbury officiating.

Shiva will be observed at the home of Sandy and Connie Kaufman of Danbury on Thursday and Saturday at 7pm and Sunday from 4pm to 7pm.

Contributions, in lieu of flowers may be made to the Danbury Hospital Development Fund, 24 Hospital Ave., Danbury, CT  06810.

Take the Cross Island Parkway (South).  Get off at Exit 25 (Linden Blvd.)
Turn Right on Linden Blvd.,  Travel approx. 1 ½ miles.  Make left onto Springfield Blvd.  The Cemetery is approx ¼ mile down on the left.
