Carol Ann (Jowdy) Basher

Carol Ann (Jowdy) Basher, 64, of Danbury, wife of Norman P. Basher, passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family, Friday evening, September 4, 2009.
Carol was born in Columbia, South Carolina, January 27, 1945, a daughter of the late George and Helen (Nimer) Jowdy.  She moved to the Danbury area with her family, in 1946.  She graduated from Bethel High School and Americos Academy of Hairdressing and Cosmetology.  She then worked as a hairdresser in her mother’s salon.  She also worked as an assistant at T&J Realty and an office manager at PFE Electric.
Carol met Norman, the love of her life in 1958.  They were married at St. Anthony’s Church in 1964 and recently celebrated their forty-fifth wedding anniversary.  They lived in Danbury and were active members of St. Anthony’s Maronite Catholic Church.
Her greatest joy in life was her husband, children, grandchildren and family.  She spent every day of her life nurturing the family she so dearly loved.  In addition to her husband, Norman, Carol will be sadly missed by her daughters, Lisa and Dionne Basher, Barbara Stuart and husband David, all of Danbury and Dawn Messer and husband Philip of Framingham, MA; two sisters, Maureen Burnett and husband Mike, Brenda Meola and husband Louis; a brother, George “Chip” Jowdy Jr. and wife Susan all of Danbury; eight grandchildren, Christopher and Austin Burns, David, Megan, Michael and Lauren Stuart and Lucas and Grace Messer as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Carol will be welcomed home by her sister Donna Marie.
The Liturgy of the Resurrection will take place on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 10am in St. Anthony’s Maronite Church, Danbury with the Rev. Jean Younes officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Monday (tomorrow) from 5pm to 8pm.
