Thomas SimalchikThomas Robert Simalchik, 61, of Danbury, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018.

Tom was born in Bridgeport, CT on March 8, 1957, eldest son of Robert and Irene (Lipa) Simalchik. He grew up in Trumbull and Norwich and was a graduate of the Norwich Free Academy. He earned his B.S. from Fairfield University, where he studied Marketing and Computer Science.
After an internship at Xerox, he worked in product marketing and sales support for companies including NCSS (later D&B Computing Services) and Mobius Management Systems. Most recently he worked at IBM as an Offering Manager and Royalty Analyst.
A resident of the Danbury area since 1981, Tom was constantly doing, making and exploring. He was a carpenter, model maker, terrarium builder, astronomer, backpacker, baker, boater, cyclist, sailor, cook, pyrotechnician, landscaper, gardener, home remodeler, computer technician, videographer and abandoned mine explorer. He was most proud of being a father. His gentle nature, kindness, intelligence and curiosity about the world will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his two sons: Brian Simalchik and his wife, Amanda Korman, and Stephen Simalchik and his partner, Ariel Stess. Tom is also survived by his mother, Irene; his brother Robert Simalchik and his wife, Patricia; his sister, Mary Owens; his niece and nephew Katie and Ryan Simalchik; his former wife, Maureen Simalchik, and his dear friend, Gollee Kissoon. He was predeceased by his father, Robert.
Friends will be received on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Avenue, Danbury. Interment will be private at the discretion of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Midwestern Connecticut Council of Alcoholism (MCCA) in Danbury or The Century House Historical Society in Rosendale, NY.
