Gian OrlandiGianaugustoGianOrlandi, 84 of South Salem, New York, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 25, 2019. He was the loving husband of Rose D’Elia Orlandi and beloved father of Gianna Maria. Gianaugusto was born in Cento, Italy on October 25, 1934, and earned a degree in engineering from S. Massimo College in Turin, Italy.

He had fond memories of memories of summers spent mountain climbing in the Dolomites, which would become a lifelong love. Wartime hardships were also a part of his youth. He served in the Italian military as a member of the Alpine Troops. Having met Rose in a chance encounter in Florence, Italy in 1961, he arrived in the United States in October, 1963. Following their marriage in Worcester, MA they settled in New York, first living in Rye and currently in South Salem. Gianaugusto was employed by various engineering firms. Passionate about the Arts, classical music, especially the piano, opera and operetta, he often planned vacations to attend performances. This love began in his childhood. He possessed a wide knowledge of art, enjoying museum visits wherever he traveled. He also had a brood understanding of history, was conversant in 5 languages and a skilled Bridge player. For many years, he enjoyed skiing, playing tennis and traveling, especially Italy and Austria. Gianaugusto developed a reputation as an excellent chef and was happy to prepare his signature dishes for family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Rose of 55 years and daughter GiannaMaria Orlandi, Esq., his brother and sister Paolo and Paola Bergamini, niece Claudia, nephew Andrea, grandniece Illaria and grandnephew Federico, all of Modena, Italy, also brother-in-law John J. Carey and neice Ann Carey (Robert) Kephart, grandniece Emma and grandnephew Alexander, all of Braintree, MA. Gianaugusto was a parishioner of Christ The King Church, SSPX in Ridgefield, CT and a member of the Holy Name Society. Calling hours will take place on Monday, July 1, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with the Rosary being offered at 6:30 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield, CT. A Requiem Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Christ The King Church; 209 Tackora Trail; Ridgefield, CT. Interment will take place on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 1:00 PM at St. John’s Cemetery; Worcester, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ The King Church, 209 Tackora Trail, Ridgefield, CT 06877. He was a proud man, with a warm and generous heart, strong Faith and a brilliant mind. He was loved by many and he loved many.
