Kristine (Mikki) Jacobellis

Kristine M. (Peknik) Jacobellis, 90, of Danbury, wife of Samuel A. Jacobellis, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday morning, January 19, 2020.

Kristine, a lifelong resident of Danbury, was born January 6, 1930, the daughter of Paul and Anna (Fako) Peknik.  She attended Danbury Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1948.  From 1948 to 1979, Kristine worked at Danbury Hospital before pursuing a career at Western Connecticut State University in the Social Work Department.

An avid reader, Kristine spent many hours at the Danbury Library.  When not perusing multiple books, Kristine could be found behind the wheel, making one of her countless trips to Boston or Cape Cod.  Most of all, Kristine loved the Saturday excursions with her beloved sisters Anna and Mildred, often to spontaneous destinations, guided by their trusty Atlas.

In addition to her husband Samuel of sixty-seven years, she is survived by her son Greg Jacobellis and his wife, Donna of Danbury; her daughter Susan Jacobellis of Boston, MA; two sisters, Anna Blackman of Brookfield and Mildred Torielli of Danbury; two grandsons, Zach and Brent and several nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by two brothers, Paul Peknik and Edward Peknik.  Kristine loved her family and they adored her.

There will be no calling hours.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 24, 2020, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 372 Main St., Danbury, with the Rev. David W. Franklin, Parochial Vicar, officiating.  Friends are asked to meet directly at the church.  Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.  Contributions in Kristine’s memory may be made to Ann's Place, 80 Saw Mill Rd, Danbury, CT 06810 or to a charity of one’s choosing.
