Gilbert Joseph Guertin

Gilbert GuertinGilbert Joseph Guertin, Sr., 86, of Danbury, peacefully passed away at Candlewood Valley Health and Rehab following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Gilbert was born in Danbury, July 13, 1932, son of the late Victor and Anne Guertin.  He attended Danbury schools and was a lifelong resident. He was a man of many talents and interests who included custom carpentry work, fishing, playing the guitar and serenading his late wife Theresa. Together they loved rehabbing injured wildlife, antiquing and traveling in their motor home and more.

Gilbert is survived by a daughter, Renée Nevins (Bruce), 4 sons; Gilbert Guertin, Jr. (Joan), Brian Guertin (Debra Rebstock), Rickie Guertin and Arthur Guertin (Mei); 9 beloved grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sisters; Pauline Almgren (Rolf) and Rita Francis (Jack), brothers; Arthur Guertin (Sharon) and Roger Guertin (Carol) and predeceased by his sisters Lorraine DePaolis, Cecile Britton, and Marthe Gay. 

Friends are all welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial and to celebrate Gilbert's life with his family on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 46 Stone Street, Danbury, CT.  

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc.
