John Damato

John Damato, 84, of Brookfield, husband of the late Joan P. Damato died on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Glen Hill Center, Danbury.
Mr. Damato was born in Norwalk, February 6, 1934, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carmine Damato. He attended Norwalk schools. A former member of the Norwalk Police Dept., Mr. Damato was a merchandising manager with Caldor Stores for forty years prior to his retirement.
He was also involved in the local businesses of D&S Septic, Cultec and Eastern Precast.
Mr. Damato was a U.S. Navy veteran.
An area resident since 1963 to 1995, he resided in Florida for fifteen years before returning to Brookfield. Mr. Damato was a member of the B.P.O.E. – Elks Lodge.
He enjoyed maintaining his properties and the things he owned, sports and watching old westerns.
He is survived by a son, John Damato Jr. and his wife Erin of Danbury, a daughter, Patricia Berglund and her husband John of Vernon, CT; two sisters, Anne Kish and Marge Anastasia both of Norwalk and four grandchildren, Jason and Rachel Berglund and Brandon and Kendall Damato.
The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury on Sunday, June 10, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 3:30 p.m. with Deacon William Murphy officiating.
Interment will take place in the CT Veterans Cemetery, Middletown, CT.
Contributions in Mr. Damato’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
