Henrietta M. (Chaber) Sam

Henrietta M. (Chaber) Sam, 82, of Danbury, wife of the late George Sam, Sr., passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Bethel Health Care, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Henrietta was born on July 20, 1936, in Danbury to the late Henry and Mary (Showah) Chaber. She attended Danbury schools and was a 1954 graduate of Danbury High School. She and her husband George were the owners of George Sam's Restaurant on White St. in Danbury, where they nourished college students and Superior Court judges alike. Henrietta was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, its choir and Ladies Society. 

Henrietta is survived by her daughter Jennifer and her partner Brian Leavitt, of Danbury, two sons, Christopher and his wife Lisa, of Danbury and George, Jr. and his wife Heather, of New Milford; five grandchildren,  Madison, Chris, Jake, Mackenzie and Josh; four brothers, George Chaber and his wife Rayna of Danbury, Henry Chaber and his wife Pauline of Tennessee, Michael Chaber of Florida and Dimitri Chaber and his wife Martha of Danbury; a sister Joan Chaber James and her husband Ed of Florida and many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, Henrietta was predeceased by her beloved sisters Gloria Melvin and her husband Ken, and Rose Baluzy and her husband George. 

The Rite of Burial will take place on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. in St. George Antiochian Church, 125 Kohanza St., Danbury with the V.Rev. Fr. George Al-Dehneh officiating.

Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.

Relatives and friends will be received at St. George Church on Wednesday after 10 a.m.

A Trisagion Prayer Service will take place at 10:50 a.m. prior to the Rite of Burial.
