James J. Campbell III

James J. Campbell III, 80, of North Salem, NY, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019. He was the loving husband of Virginia (Twomey) Campbell.
Mr. Campbell was born in Bronx, NY on April 22, 1939; the son of the late James and Genevieve (Brady) Campbell. He graduated from St. Helena’s High School in 1957, Manhattan College in 1962 and joined the NYPD in 1963, following in his father's footsteps.
A resident of North Salem, NY since 1974; Mr. Campbell retired from the NYPD as a Deputy Inspector. He was an avid fisherman and Yankees fan.  He enjoyed his fishing excursions and annual trips with his friends from the NYPD and his decades long friendship with his childhood crew from the Bronx.  Always ready with witty one liners, he brought many smiles to his family and friends. Mr. Campbell was a member of St. Mary Church of Ridgefield.
Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ginny and their 4 children: James Campbell IV and his wife, Katie; Patrick Campbell and his wife, Beth; Missy Williams and her husband, Derek and Kerri Seiffert and her husband, Brian. In addition, Mr. Campbell is survived by 15 grandchildren: Courtney, Olivia, Mitchell, Owen, James V, Kyle, Duncan, Griffin, Brady, Ian, Kevin, Emmie, Genevieve, Liam and Ryland as well as a sister, Jeanne Campbell Ryan. 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 1:15 PM at St. Mary’s Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment will be private, there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens’ Research Hospital – www.stjude.org, or Shriners Hospital for Children – www.shrinershospitalforchildren.org. Kane Funeral Home, Ridgefield, CT is in care of funeral arrangements.
