Gino L. Baldaserini

Gino L. Baldaserini, "Jinx", 100, of Ridgefield, loving husband of the late Joan (Fischer) Baldaserini passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Danbury Hospital with his daughter, Nancy by his side.

Gino was born in Ridgefield on July 12, 1917 to Joseph and Anna (Genga) Baldaserini.

He had fond memories of growing up on the estate of Louis D. Conley; Outpost Farm (now Bennett’s Pond) where his parents were caretakers. While there, he attended the Bennett’s Farms one room school house. Later, when the family moved closer to town, he attended the Titicus School and Ridgefield High School. 

Gino married Joan Fischer on August 24, 1941 in Brewster, NY. They were married for 66 years before Joan’s passing in 2008. 

He was a proud veteran of WWII. Gino joined the Army in 1942 and served through 1945. He was assigned to the 3881st QM Truck Company that was part of the Red Ball Express convoy which supplied the Allied Forces on D-Day, The Battle of the Bulge and the Rhineland Offensive in February of 1945.

After the war, he began working for the Pedersen Custom Golf Club Company of Wilton, CT. He became a Master Craftsman club maker and worked with the company for over 45 years. 

Gino enjoyed golf and bowling and as a young man, also playing baseball. He was honored by the Ridgefield Old Timers Association with its Athletic Award in 1998. He was also a member of the IAMAS, the VFW and was an honorary member of the Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department.

Besides his daughter, Nancy, he is survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Jane Baker and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Joan and his siblings, Primo Baldaserini, Paul Baker and Gina Rossini.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 10:15 AM at St. Mary's Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. US Military honors will be observed at the conclusion of the funeral mass. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ridgefield in the Spring. Friends will be received on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from 8:45 to 9:45 AM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association - PO Box 417005; Boston, MA 02241,
