Blanche WeldonBlanche G. Weldon, 97, of Newtown, CT, formerly of New Fairfield, CT, died at her home on Saturday evening. September 2, 2017.

Mrs. Weldon was born in New Milford, CT, August 28, 1920, a daughter of the late Stanislaw and Bronslawa (Makowski) Kwasniewski. She attended New Milford schools, attended New Milford High School where she was active in school affairs and played varsity basketball and graduated with the Class of 1939.

In 1939, upon graduation, Mrs. Weldon was employed at Conde Nast Publishing Company of Greenwich, CT and met her husband George who employed there as well.

They were married on November 17, 1944 in the Victory Chapel at Camp Patrick Henry in Oriana, Virginia.

A resident of the Ball Pond area of New Fairfield since 1945, she relocated to Newtown in 2014.

As a New Fairfield resident, Mrs. Weldon enjoyed traveling with her husband George, taking long walks around Ball Pond and bus trips to the casino.

She was a founding member of St. Edward the Confessor Parish of New Fairfield and a member and a past president of the Ladies Guild.

Mrs. Weldon is survived by two sons, Walter Weldon and his wife Diane of Stormville, NY and Robert Weldon and his wife Pam of Boca Raton, FL; a brother, Stanley Kwasniewski and his wife Joanna of New Milford, CT; two grandchildren, Christine Gerdes and her husband Ron of Youngsville, NC and Richard Weldon of Seattle, Washington as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Weldon was predeceased by two sisters, Laura Kwasniewski and Lucy Kwasniewski and by four brothers, John, Henry, Joseph and Tony Kwasniewski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Edward the Confessor Church, 21 Brush Hill, New Fairfield, CT.

Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, New Milford.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
