Rita M. Talarico

Rita M. Talarico, 91, of Danbury, wife of the late Joseph Talarico and the late Benny Bohdan, died on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Filosa for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Danbury.

Mrs. Talarico was born in Danbury, June 21, 1925, a daughter of John and Catherine (Deakin) Gallagher. She attended St. Peter School and graduated from Danbury High School with the Class of 1943. Upon graduation, Mrs. Talarico was employed with the former Harry H. McLaughlin Hatting Company in their office as a payroll clerk. She later became a clerk with the former Danbury & Bethel Gas Company which later became Connecticut Light and Power Company.

She was a member of the Candlewood Chapter-AARP and St. Peter Church.

Mrs. Talarico enjoyed travel, knitting, crocheting and reading.

She is survived by two sisters, Marie Krizan and Joan Wiencek and her husband Raymond, all of Danbury and by her nieces and nephews: John Lathrop, Patricia Della Valla, Mary Casazza, Diane Nutter, Eileen Vellantoni and David Wiencek and by several grand nieces and grand nephews.

In addition to her parents, John and Catherine Gallagher and husbands, Joseph Talarico and Benny Bohdan, Mrs. Talarico was predeceased by a sister, Catherine Gallagher Lathrop.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Saturday after 10:30 a.m.

The family would like to especially acknowledge and thank Rita’s caregivers and the entire staff of Filosa for Nursing and Rehabilitation of Danbury.
