Thomas E. Tita

Thomas E. Tita, 85, of Danbury, died on Monday afternoon September 11, 2017 at Maplewood of Stony Hill. Previously, he resided at The Gardens of Danbury for eight years.

Mr. Tita was born in Danbury on October 18, 1931, a son of the late Peter and Anna (Katrenich) Tita. He attended Danbury schools.

For forty three years, Mr. Tita was employed with Sperry Rail Service of Danbury. He was always willing to help family members and enjoyed assisting his brother Bill with family carpentry projects.

A lifelong member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church of Danbury, he was also a member of the Golden Dome bakers, a Bingo volunteer and the former Men’s Club.

He is survived by his three sisters in law, Helen, Pauline and Margaret (Peggy) Tita as well as nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Tita was predeceased by his brothers, Jim, John and Bill and by his sister Mary Ann.

The Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 10 a.m. in St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Danbury with Fr. Ronald Hatton officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Panachida prayer service will be offered on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
