Mary A. Seri

Mary Alice (Ferguson) Seri, 94, of Danbury, wife of the late Anthony “Ozzie” Seri, died on Thursday evening, April 27, 2017 at her home.

Mrs. Seri was born Cross River, NY, October 7, 1922, a daughter of Frank and  Alice (Van Wagner) Ferguson.

Raised in South Salem, NY, Mrs. Seri was a graduate of John Jay High School with the Class of 1941.

In 1946, “Mary Alice” and “Ozzie” were united in marriage.

A resident of Danbury for the past seventy five years, Mrs. Seri was a former clerk with the McCory and F.W. Woolworth department stores and in 1963 was employed with the Danbury Public School system in their food services division.  Mrs. Seri initially worked within the elementary schools and in 1965 upon the opening of the present Danbury High School became the head cook until her retirement in 1983. 

She enjoyed word puzzles, the UConn Woman Huskies and was a former NY Yankee fan until recently changing her allegiance to the NY Mets.

A member of A.A.R.P., Mrs. Seri was also a member of St. Gregory the Great Parish of Danbury.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald Seri of Ft. Myers, FL and James Seri and his wife Joy of Danbury; a sister, Lois Donaldson and her husband Windram of New Fairfield; a brother, Steven Ferguson and his wife Madilla of Bethel as well as sisters in law, brothers in law and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband and members of his family, Mrs. Seri was predeceased by her brother Frank Ferguson Jr. and his wife Kay.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Rd., Danbury.

Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Monday, May 1, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
