Nicholas J. Saviano

Nicholas SavianoNicholas J. Saviano, 83, of Bethel, husband of Victoria Hardy Saviano, died on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Danbury Hospital.

Mr. Saviano was born in Danbury, December 30, 1933, son of Nicholas and Anna (Bingel) Saviano. He attended Danbury schools.

A U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1952 to 1956, Mr. Saviano was a retired law enforcement officer serving with the Danbury Police Department from 1965 to 1999 retiring with the rank of Detective Lieutenant.

A lifelong area resident he was an avid bowler, NY Yankee and a NY Giants fan. He enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Danbury Police Athletic League (PAL).

In addition to his wife, Mr. Saviano is survived by a son, Craig Saviano and his wife Dora of Danbury; two daughters, Janine Saviano of Vero Beach, FL and Anna Damia and her husband Fulvio of Danbury; two stepsons, Kym Hardy of New Milford and Bryan Hardy of Bethel; a granddaughter, Tiffany Saviano’ two step grandchildren, Melissa Hardy and Ethan Hardy and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews

In addition to his parents, Mr. Saviano was predeceased by two sisters, Louise Bishop and Barbara Abramo.

A Mass of Christian Burial followed by military honors will take place on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 1 p.m. in St. Peter Church, 121 Main St., Danbury.

Interment will take place at the direction of the family.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 5 pm to 8 pm.
