Regina L. Sautner

Regina SauntnerRegina L. (Lishnak) Sautner, age 78, of Danbury, died peacefully on March 12 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved spouse of William J. “Bill” Sautner, with whom she celebrated her 57th wedding anniversary in November 2016.

Regina was born on September 7, 1938 in Wilkes Barre, Pa., to the late Michael and Dominica Lishnak. She grew up in West Hartford, Conn., and graduated from Hall High School before marrying and settling in Danbury with her husband and young twins.

She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker and spent her life loving and supporting her family, which includes daughter Lorraine R. Sautner of Danbury; son William M. “Will” Sautner and daughter-in-law Erika (Sabla) Sautner, and beloved grandson Noah Sautner, all of Brookfield. She is also survived by a brother, Michael Lishnak of Canada; a niece, nephew and several cousins.

Regina worked for many years at Grolier in Danbury before her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family, tending her garden, doing crossword puzzles, and was a voracious reader. She had a quick sense of humor, loved decorating her home for the holidays, and experienced profound joy in later life in her role as “mama,” the world’s greatest grandmother. She appreciated nature in all of its seasons—especially the autumn—and shared with her husband a great love for the State of Maine, where they vacationed frequently and enjoyed hiking the carriage trails of Acadia National Park.

She will be forever loved and missed by all fortunate enough to know her. Funeral services will be private and a gathering celebrating her life will take place at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut ( or to the Friends of Acadia (
