Josef Muller

Josef MullerJosef Muller, 90, of Danbury, CT, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2017 at Danbury Hospital.
Mr. Muller was born on January 19, 1927 to Josef and Elisabeth (Ziegler) Muller in Carani , Romania .  In 1951 he traveled to America, to start a new life and achieve the American dream.  He met the love of his life Adolfine Hofmann and they were married on May 26, 1956 at St. Joseph’s Church in New York City and were blessed with four children; Anne, Monica, Lore and Joseph.
Before he retired in 1997, he was employed for thirty years, as a Tool Maker for Berol Pencil in Danbury, CT.    His whole life revolved around his wife Fina, who was his best friend and his whole world; together hand in hand, they enjoyed their 61 years of marriage. In true German tradition, both he and his wife instilled in their children that hard work pays off.  He always enjoyed the many family gatherings with German food and music. He could break into a song and dance at a moment’s notice. He loved to perform on cruises with his singing and dancing, where many of the other travelers thought Joe was part of the show and not just a guest! Mr. Muller was a true family man and he loved watching all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s games and activities. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and a friend to many. In his spare time, Joe was an alto singer and a 40 year lifetime member of the The Arion Singing Society in New Milford, CT.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Fina; his three loving children: Anne Murphy (Bruce) of Sparta, NJ, Monica DeFeo (predeceased) and husband Joe, of Scituate, MA, formerly of Newtown, CT, Lore DiChiaro (Frank) of Sherman, CT and Joseph (Barbara) Muller, of Brookfield, CT;  his eleven cherished grandchildren: Christopher (Laura) DeFeo, Mark (Nicki) DeFeo, Joseph (Jessica) DeFeo, Angela (Sean) Dempsey, Anthony DiChiaro, Frank DiChiaro, Matthew Muller, Joseph Muller, Ryan Murphy, Michael Murphy and Lauren Murphy; and four adoring great-grandchildren: Julia DeFeo, Charles DeFeo, Everly DeFeo and Sophie DeFeo – all of whom he adored and each child held a very special place in his heart.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He will now be joined in heaven with his beloved daughter Monica who had passed in 2012, yet his legacy of love and devotion to family and friends will continue to grow in our hearts.
The family would like to thank his caregiver Maria, for all of her kindness, years of love, and dedication.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Avenue, Danbury, CT (203)748-6262.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Peter’s, 104 Main Street, Danbury, CT 06810.  Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, in Danbury, CT.
