Russell A. Jelinek

Russell JelinekRussell A. Jelinek, 74, of Danbury, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017.

Mr. Jelinek was born in the Bronx, NY on February 3, 1942; a son of the late Charles and Fern (Flood) Jelinek. He grew up in the Riverdale section of the Bronx and spent his summers camping at Squantz Pond in New Fairfield. He attended the Riverdale Country School and Columbia College earning a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

A Danbury resident for the past 50 years since relocating from the Bronx, Mr. Jelinek was a route salesman distributing Charles’ Chips products. Later he became a Commercial Salesperson for Deep’s Hardware of Danbury.

Mr. Jelinek was an avid water skier, snow skier, speed skater, and boater. He enjoyed his time spent on Schroon Lake in New York and Candlewood Lake in Danbury. He was a member of the Connecticut Ice Yacht club and sailed his iceboat on Candlewood and Bantam lakes in Connecticut. One of his true passions was spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his life partner, Heidi Waldkirch of Danbury and his daughter, Jennifer Casey and her husband, Brian of Suffield, CT. Mr. Jelinek is also survived by two grandchildren; Timothy and Emma as well as a brother, Charles H. Jelinek and a sister, Joan Shaw.

Friends will be received on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home; 9 Granville Avenue, Danbury. Funeral Services will take place on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be private and at the direction of the family.
