Edward R. Ellis

Edward EllisEdward R. Ellis, 91, of Danbury, husband of Evelyn (Hajjar) Ellis, died on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Danbury Hospital.

Mr. Ellis was born in Winston-Salem, NC, October 11, 1925, a son of John and Rose (Caram) Ellis. A resident of Danbury for the past eighty five years, he attended Danbury schools and graduated from Danbury High School.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran serving as a rifleman in the European African Middle Eastern Theater and a recipient of a Bronze Battle Star.

Mr. Ellis was a retired mechanical technician with the former Bonadio Candy and Tobacco Co. of Danbury for forty years prior to his retirement.

He was a member of the Joseph A. Treadwell Post-American Legion of Danbury, V.F.W., Lebanon American Club and St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church of Danbury.

In addition to his wife Evelyn of sixty six years, Mr. Ellis is survived by a daughter, Diane R. Bruno of Danbury, a son, Scott E. Ellis and his wife, Randy of Weston, CT; six grandchildren, Meghan Underwood and her husband Ryan, Michael C. Bruno, Robert Ellis, Zachary Ellis, Jacquelyn Ellis and Madalyn Ellis; a granddaughter, Abigail Rose Underwood; a by his former son in law, Christopher Bruno.and by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ellis was predeceased by his brother, George “Chubby” Ellis.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 17 Granville Ave., Danbury with the Rev. Naji J. Kiwan officiating.

Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Peter Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends at St. Anthony Church, 17 Granville Ave., Danbury on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Anthony Church Scholarship Fund would be appreciated.
