James T. Tomer

James T. Tomer, 94, of Danbury, husband of Bridget (Enright) Tomer, died on Monday, February 15, 2016.

Mr. Tomer was born in Methuen, MA, May 14, 1921, a son of the late Charles and Effie (Malouf) Tomer. He relocated from the Lawrence-Methuen area with his family as a child and attended Danbury schools.

A hatter in early years, Mr. Tomer then was employed with Sperry Products of Danbury and the former Durkin’s Diner. From 1966 to 1986, Mr. Tomer was employed with the State of Connecticut in their food service division as a cook at their Fairfield Hill State Hospital campus.

He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.

In addition to his wife of sixty three years, Mr. Tomer is survived by three sons, James T. Tomer, Jr. of Danbury, Sean T. Tomer of New Fairfield and Michael M. Tomer of Newtown; a grandson, Sean Tomer and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Tomer was predeceased by three brothers, Edward, Abraham and Joseph Tomer and by two sisters, Nellie Tomer and Rosemary Tomey.

Graveside funeral services and burial will take place in the spring at Wooster Cemetery, Danbury with military honors.
There will be no calling hours.
