Catherine Sorbaro

Catherine Monique Sorbaro, 54, of Ridgefield, CT, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016 in New York.

She will be long remembered for her ambition, selflessness and optimism; a mother, avid horseback rider and artist that was taken too soon.

Catherine was born in Torrington, CT, September 27, 1962 to Anthony and Jan Olmer. She graduated from John Jay High School and continued her studies at Plattsburgh University.

After graduation, Catherine was employed with Xerox as a training, product and document specialist.

In 1990, Catherine was recruited by Lehman Brothers and became vice president of information systems for two years before settling down with her family.

Once her children had transitioned to high school and college she dove back into a different field of study. She focused on child nutrition at Stanford University and incorporated holistic nutrition taught by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her into another endeavor called Plum and Apple. She invested her time into health strategy for children and adults.

Catherine enjoyed traveling, gardening and most especially time spent with her family. She will be sorely missed.

She is survived by a daughter Samantha Marion Sorbaro; a son Scott Harrison Sorbaro; former husband Victor Stephen Sorbaro, and her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 10:15 a.m. in St. Mary R.C. Church, 55 Catoonah St., Ridgefield.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Friday, December 2, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Calvary Hospital for their kindness, care and concern.

Condolences may also be left on Catherine’s Facebook.
