Anita R. Samaha

Anita (Burns) Samaha, 89, of Danbury, wife of the late Maurice “Maury” Samaha, died on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at her home.

Mrs. Samaha was born on April 20, 1927 in the Milltown section of Brewster, NY; a daughter of the late Edward and Mildred (Byrne) Burns. She attended St. Peter School and Danbury High School; graduating with the class of 1945.

Mrs. Samaha was a parishioner of St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church of Danbury. She was very active in the church as a member of the Ladies Guild, Altar Society and every committee that was organized through the church. She was also a member of the St. Anthony Church choir and a daily communicant..

Mrs. Samaha is survived by her children: Edward and his wife; Linda of Charlotte. NC, David and his wife, Ann of Darien, Maurie and his wife, Marion of Danbury, John and his wife, Joanna of New Fairfield, Ruth Ann Samaha and her husband, John Yannes of Seymour, and Ann Marie Housel and her husband, John of South Lake, Texas. Mrs. Samaha is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. In addition to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Mrs. Samaha is survived by a brother, Andrew Burns and a sister, Mary Cassazza both of Danbury; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 11:00 AM in St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church; 17 Granville Avenue, Danbury with the Rev. Naji Kiwan, officiating. Interment will take place at the direction of the family. The family will receive friends at St. Anthony Church on Friday morning from 9:45 to 10:45 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital: 262 Danny Thomas Place; Memphis, TN 38105.
