Charles William Plumer Jr.

Charles (Charlie) William Plumer Jr., 81 of Danbury, formerly of Oceanside, NY, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2016. He was the loving husband of the late Louise Mary Plumer.

Charlie was born on December 1, 1934 in Jamaica Queens, NY, a son of the late Virginia Whalen and Charles W. Plumer, Sr. He attended St. John’s Academy in Rensselaer, NY and served in the US Navy during the Korean War.

Charlie was a Supervisor for the Folz Vending Company of New York for most of his life, but was happy to end his time working with the New Milford Senior Center. In his spare time, Charlie enjoyed working on model trains, cheering for the New York Mets, hunting and fishing. Charlie was a parishioner of St. Peter Church of Danbury and a past parishioner of St. Anthony Church of Oceanside, NY as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Charlie is survived by his children; a son, Charlie III and his wife Lisa and by a daughter, Donna Schwab and her husband, Anthony. He is also survived by a brother John Plumer (Beth) and by three sisters: Ginny Lashoff, Ronnie Clark (Mike) and Lauretta Tierney (Harold). In addition to his children and siblings, Charles is survived by two grandchildren, Steven Schwab and Kimberly Schwab; two step grandchildren, Stephanie Moses and Anthony Robinson; and two great grandchildren, Emma Moses and Seionna Robinson; nieces and nephews great and grand.

In addition to his wife and parents, Charles was predeceased by a brother, Bobby Plumer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 9:00 AM at St. Peter Church; 104 Main Street, Danbury. Interment with US Military Honors will follow in Greenfield Cemetery; Uniondale, L.I., NY. Friends will be received on Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 5 to 8 PM at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home; 9 Granville Avenue, Danbury. Dress is casual.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, America Loves Fatima, and Regional Hospice and Homecare.
