Ruth M. Harris

Ruth M. Harris, 84, of Danbury, wife of the late James Harris, died on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Bethel Health Care, Bethel, CT.

Mrs. Harris was born in Keiser, Arkansas, July 15, 1932, a daughter to Willie and Ida Mae (Henley) Crumpton. She attended schools in Keiser and has been a Danbury resident for the past fifty eight years. She was initially employed with the former Eagle Pencil Company of Danbury and in later years as a member of the housekeeping staff with the State of Connecticut at Western Connecticut State University.

Mrs. Harris was a graduate of the Connecticut Institute of Christian Religion and a member of the Trinity Christian Tabernacle Church of Danbury where she was ordained an evangelist.

Mrs. Harris is survived by a son, Eugene Jackson of Danbury; a sister, Althea Fowler of Gary, Indiana; a granddaughter, Mikel McCullough and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, including Rev. Annette Bush and Daneller Curtis both of Danbury.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Harris was predeceased by a son, Bradley Jackson.

A Going Home Celebration will take place on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Trinity Christian Tabernacle Church, 91 Elm St., Danbury.

Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends at Trinity Christian Tabernacle Church, 91 Elm St., Danbury on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
