Beverly A. Giglio

Beverly GiglioBeverly Ann (Finneran) Giglio, of Danbury, passed away, surrounded by her family and friends, on September 3, 2016 in Danbury, CT.

Bev was born in Meadville, PA.  As her father was in the military, they moved often, and then settled in Connecticut, where she graduated from Staples High School in Westport in 1954. She married Philip Giglio, her high school sweetheart, and the couple welcomed five children into their home.  Her family remembers her as a strong and loving mother and grandmother whose strength was beyond reason.  She had a young, beautiful spirit and was kind and considerate, always offering a helping hand.  She was a shining example of grace and faith despite circumstances at times that were not for the faint of heart. She loved Broadway musicals...and was known to sing them quite often with her children and grandchildren as they cleaned.  Bev was an avid fan of both UCONN Men and Women Basketball teams and was a passionate NY Yankees fan as well-although her favorite teams were the ones her grandchildren were on.  She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed playing cards for hours...laughing and enjoying family.   She always encouraged her children and grandchildren to pursue their goals, while always reminding them to keep family first.

For many years, Bev was a hostess and member of the wait staff of the Ancient Mariner Restaurant and manager of the Corner Pub both of Ridgefield as well as working with the Brubeck family of Wilton.

Bev was a patriotic and proud, loyal member of the following veterans’ groups: Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ladies Auxiliary where she held multiple positions including secretary, treasurer, vice president, and president , Catholic War Veterans, Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion, the Moose Club and the Elks Club.  She had a fierce love for her country, her family, and her friends.

Bev is survived by her children, Kathleen King (Michael), Trish Green (Andy) and Paul Giglio (Noemia); a stepson Philip McCluskey (Casey); her sister Nancy, her grandchildren Jennifer Rogers, Jason Rogers (both of Danbury, CT), Sam King, Eric King (both of New Milford, CT), Alex Giglio (Brookfield, CT), Mikayla Giglio (Danbury, CT), Sara Green, Zachary Green, Jacob Green (Danbury, CT); great-grandchildren; Seth Rogers (Redding, CT), Aliyah Seng, Mya Seng, and Jordan Seng (Danbury, CT) and numerous nieces and nephews; and her loving companion Jim Thomas. She is preceded in death by her parents; Millie and Fred Finneran; brother Fred Finneran Jr.; her former husband Philip Giglio, and her daughters Karen Rogers and Elizabeth Giglio; and her son-in-law Lonnie Rogers.

The family invites friends to the Jowdy Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Avenue Danbury on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m...
