Peggy Fitzgerald

Peggy FitzgeraldMargaret (Sullivan) “Peggy” Fitzgerald, 78, of Danbury, wife of James G. Fitzgerald, died on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Danbury Hospital.

Peggy was born in Hartford, CT, July 25, 1937, daughter of Patrick B. and Margaret (Hurley) Sullivan. She attended Mount St. Joseph Academy of Hartford, Cathedral High School and was a graduate of the Hartford Institute of Accounting.

A former banker with Connecticut Bank & Trust Co., Peggy retired from the former Fleet Bank in 2002.

A resident of the area since 1975 coming from the Bronx, NY, she was a member of St. Gregory the Great Parish of Danbury.

She enjoyed the outdoors, traveling to Ireland and most especially the time spent with her family. She will be sorely missed.

In addition to her husband of forty-seven years, Peggy is survived by a son, Jeff Fitzgerald and his wife, Priscilla of Danbury; a grandson, Logan Stephen Fitzgerald of Danbury; brothers in law, Stephen Fitzgerald and his wife, Janet of Pine Plains, NY and Michael Fitzgerald of North Salem, NY; nephews. Matthew Fitzgerald and his wife, Maggie and their daughter Madeline of Upstate, NY and John Fitzgerald of Chicago, IL; nieces, Susan Matter and her husband, Gary and their children, Michael and Caitlyn of Ft. Myers, FL, Nancy Lischinsky and her husband John and their children Claire and Stephen of Gardner, NY and Christine Demaras and her husband Gregg and their daughter Lucy of New Jersey and seven Godchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 10 a.m. in St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Rd., Danbury.

Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
