Celestino Catalano

Celestino Catalano, 82, of Danbury, formerly of Brooklyn, NY passed away at Danbury Hospital on February 3, 2016. He was the loving husband of Mrs. Amelia (Bruzzese) Catalano.

Mr. Catalano was born in Italy on April 4, 1933; a son of the late Gaetano and Maria Vincenze (Lombardo) Catalano. He immigrated to the United States and settled in Brooklyn, NY. He was a Union Construction Worker with Local 731 in New York City.

He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church of Danbury and a former parishioner of St. Ephrem Church of Brooklyn, NY. In his spare time, Mr. Catalano enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards at the park while living in New York City. He also enjoyed bocce and spending time with his fellow Knights of Columbus members. Mr. Catalano loved the internet and became very proficient in his late 60s.

Mr. Catalano is survived by his wife Amelia of 57 years. He is also survived by his children, a son, Richard Catalano and his wife Michele as well as a daughter, Marisa Denaro. In addition to his wife and children, Mr. Catalano is survived by two grandchildren, Daniel and Garret Denaro; a brother, Cosimo Catalano; and by three sisters, Santina Catalano, Damiana Catalano and Catharina Catalano.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Catalano was predeceased by a brother Giuseppe and by a sister, Palmina.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 10 AM at St. Joseph Church; 8 Robinson Avenue, Danbury. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. Friends will be received on Sunday, February 7, 2016 from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield.
