Polly Wilson

Polly WilsonPolly (Malamatis) Wilson, 86, of Danbury, wife of the late Russell Sage Wilson, Jr. died on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at her home.

Mrs. Wilson was born in New Haven CT, January 21, 1929, daughter of Nicholas and Anastasia (Lemonudes) Malamatis. She moved with her family as a child to Danbury where she attended local schools and graduated from Danbury High School in the Class of 1946.

A retired accounts payable clerk with the Danbury Hospital was for nearly forty years, she retired in 1993. Previous to her position with the Danbury Hospital, she was employed with Data Control Corporation and The Sperry Rail Corporation.

She was an avid reader and patron of the Danbury Library. Polly also enjoyed being a “Danbury Mall Walker” and taking trips to the Mohegan Sun Casino. She loved to shop, cook and participate in dinner with friends most every Thursday evening.

Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church of Danbury and of the Ladies Philoptochos.

Most importantly to Polly was the time spent with her family and friends.

She will be sorely missed.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by a son, Russell Sage Wilson, III of Danbury; two daughters, Nike Wilson of Danbury and Leslie Heath and her husband Carson of Jamestown, NC; a brother, George Malamatis of Coconut Creek, FL; three grandsons, Nicholas Cipolla, Russell Benjamin and George Heath and two great grandsons, Nicholas Cipolla and Lorenzo Cipolla.

The Rite of Burial will take place on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. in the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury with Fr. Peter Karloutsos officiating.

Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Trisagion Service will take place in the funeral home on Friday evening at 7 p.m.
