Gerald Vincent Stoeffel

Gerald Vincent Stoeffel, 74, of Ridgefield, passed away at his home on November 12, 2015. He was the loving husband of Mrs. Virginia “Ginny” (O’Brien) Stoeffel and proud father of three sons.

Mr. Stoeffel was born on July 24, 1941 in the Bronx, NY; a son of the late Gertrude (Naughton) and William Henry Stoeffel Jr.. As a student of finance and a graduate of Villanova University, Mr. Stoeffel excelled at spanning the boundaries between the fields of commerce and engineering. A talented collegieate and amatuer high jumper, he cleared high bars during the waning days of the modern straddle technique, and counted Olympic medalists and world record holders amongst his athletic competitors. He served with distinction in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and remained a steadfast supporter of the men and women in the Armed Forces. One of the original bridge and tunnel crowd, he was an avid leaf collector at his country home in his native Connecticut. A well traveled man, Mr. Stoeffel celebrated foreign cultures through his diverse and eclectic palate. To his great satisfaction and relief, Mr. Stoeffel never held any elected office or enduring political affiliation.

A resident of Ridgefield for the past 30 years since coming from Bronxville, NY; Mr. Stoeffel dedicated his life to his family, work, and faith. He was an active member of St. Marys Church of Ridgefield.

Mr. Stoeffel is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ginny, and by his three sons: Bill and his wife, Meghan; Jim and his wife, Bells and Patrick. He is also survived by three grandchildren; Dylan, Natalie and Gabriel. In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, Mr. Stoeffel is survived by a brother; Jay Stoeffel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at 10:15 AM at St. Mary Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery; 110 North Street, Ridgefield.

Friends will be received on Monday, November 16, 2015 from 4 to 8 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield.
