James O. Oberndorfer

James O. Oberndorfer, 70, of Brookfield, husband of Diana (Day) Oberndorfer, died on Friday, October 30, 2015 at Regional Hospice Center for Comfort Care and Healing, Danbury.

Mr. Oberndorfer was born in New York, NY, November 16, 1944, a son of the late Georg and Luise (Stecklies) Oberndorfer.  He graduated from Carmel High School and was a U.S. Vietnam Era veteran, having served aboard the U.S.S. Newport News, heavy cruiser, whose carrier was the Intrepid of the Atlantic Fleet.

Retiring on December 31, 2014, Mr. Oberndorfer was Director of Environmental Health and Safety with the Perkin Elmer Corporation.  He was employed with Perkin Elmer for thirty-five years.  In prior years, he was employed with the former Benrus Corporation.

An area resident for the past forty-seven years, Mr. Oberndorfer was a member of the Plant Engineers Society.  He was considered a jack of all trades and enjoyed working with stained glass.  Over the years, Mr. Oberndorfer was blessed with many friends.

In addition to his wife Diana of fifty-three years.  He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Lee LaMont and her husband Christopher of Brookfield; three sons, Kyle Douglas Oberndorfer and his wife Cheryl of Brookfield, James Scott Oberndorfer and his wife Marybeth of Glastonbury, Ct and Ryan George Oberndorfer and his wife Jennifer of Plymouth, Ct; a daughter-in-law Beth Oberndorfer of Bridgewater, Ct; two brothers George Oberndorfer and his wife Kathleen of Bayonette Point, Fl and R. Peter Oberndorfer and his wife Esther of New York, NY; a sister-in-law Dorna Persson and her husband Jon of Stratford, Ct; eleven grandchildren: Joshua Cole, Kaleigh Hayden, and Jacob Michael Oberndorfer; twins Logan William and Nicole Lee LaMont; Kaitlyn Diana-Rose and James Sean Oberndorfer; Anastazia Emma Oberndorfer; B.J., Devin Kyle and Karlee Grace Oberndorfer.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Oberndorfer was predeceased by a son, Michael P. Oberndorfer of Bridgewater, CT in 2009.

The family will receive family and friends at the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home 9-11 Granville Avenue, Danbury, Ct on Wednesday, November 4 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
