Victor J. Melfi, Sr.

Victor J. Melfi, Sr., 87, of Ridgefield, formerly of Stamford, husband of the late Clare (Caputo) Melfi, died unexpectedly, but peacefully in his sleep on Friday, July 3, 2015 on the eve of his 63rd wedding anniversary.

Mr. Melfi was born in Stamford, November 11, 1927, son of Pasquale and Maria (Coppola) Melfi. He attended Stamford schools and attained a Bachelor of Arts degree and was the proprietor of Post Carpet Craft of Stamford, CT.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, he was an avid golfer, bowler and enjoyed being involved in Scouting with his grandchildren.

After retiring from Post Carpet Craft, he moved to Ridgefield, where he was a vibrant member of Founders Hall. He was particularly fond of the writing workshops. Victor was a poet, Musician, an inventor and a dreamer, who found solace in music and peace in the arms of his loving family. He was a kind and compassionate soul and a gentleman to all who knew him. Victor lived a full and happy life. His family mourns his passing, but finds peace with the knowledge that he has been reunited with the love of his life, Clare.

Mr. Melfi is survived by his four children, Patrick Melfi and his wife, Mary of Hebron, CT, Susan Melfi-Master and her husband, David of Westport, CT and Denver, CO, Victor Melfi Jr., of Medina, Washington and Nanette Melfi-Graves of Ridgefield CT and New Canaan, CT; three sisters, Nancy Calvo, Catherine Darling and Joanna Melfi; his grandchildren, Jonathan and his wife, Danielle, Joseph, Andrew, Laura, Victoria, Julia, Tyler and Carter; a step grandson, Andrew; a great granddaughter, Bianca as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Melfi was predeceased by a sister, Mollie Taranto and by a brother, Joseph Melfi.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, 566 Elm St., Stamford.

Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Darien, CT.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield, CT on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
