Shirley M. Klecha

Shirley (Meleda) Klecha, 89, of Danbury, wife of the late Fred Klecha, died on Thursday evening, November 12, 2015.

Mrs. Klecha was born in Danbury, June 27, 1926, a daughter of the late Louis and Ella (Rynn) Meleda. She attended Danbury schools, graduated from Danbury High School with the Class of 1944 and the Danbury Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Klecha was employed with the Danbury Hospital for many years prior to becoming a private duty nurse and later a nurse in the Danbury school system.

A lifelong Danbury resident, Shirley was a member of the Danbury Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association, the School Nurses Association and St. James’ Episcopal Church of Danbury.

Mrs. Klecha is survived by a son, Mark Klecha of Danbury; a sister, Betty Smythe of Danbury and by several nieces, nephews and in laws.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Klecha was predeceased by a grandson, Bradley Klecha and by a sister, Muriel Keeler.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 10 a.m. in St. James’ Episcopal Church, 25 West St., Danbury with the Rev. Dr. Joseph A. Krasinski, Rector officiating.

Interment will take place in Ridgebury Cemetery, Ridgefield at the direction of the family.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
