Dean J. Gazis

Dean J. Gazis, 65, of Bethel, beloved husband of Jennifer (Pappas) Gazis, died on Monday, March 30, 2015 at his home.

Mr. Gazis was born in Kozani, Greece, December 8, 1949, son of Stella Giatas of Fairfield and the late George Gouliaras who died prior to Mr. Gazis’ birth. Raised in Bridgeport, CT by his aunt and uncle, James and Mary Gazis, he attended local schools, graduated from the University of Connecticut and attended the MBA program at the University of Bridgeport.

Mr. Gazis was a retired Account Executive for United Parcel Service, representing the company at their Hartford and Brookfield locations.

A resident of Bethel since 1977, he was a member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church of Danbury. He served as former church treasurer as well as a volunteer at the annual festival.

He enjoyed gardening, landscaping, traveling throughout New England, the ocean, good food, reading, music and most especially, Mr. Gazis enjoyed the time with his most important cherished possession; his family.

He will be sorely missed.

In addition to his wife of forty years and mother, Mr. Gazis is survived by a son, James Gazis of Jersey City, NJ; a daughter, Kathryn Gazis of Bethel, a sister, Peggy Kyratsous of Fairfield. Mr. Gazis also leaves behind his grand pups.

The Rite of Burial will take place on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Clapboard Ridge Rd. (Rt 39N) Danbury with the Rev. Peter Karloutsos officiating.

Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Bethel.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.
