John Franc

John Franc, 91, of Danbury, husband of Rachael (Tomaino) Franc, died on Saturday, November 7, 2015.

Mr. Franc was born in the Stony Hill district of Bethel, December 13, 1923, a son of the late Albert and Mary (Brutz) Franc. He attended Bethel schools and graduated from Bethel High School.

Upon graduation from high school, Mr. Franc was called to serve in World War II as a member of the Air corps. During this time, he along with three of his brothers served overseas in the U.S. military during World War Two.

An area resident all of his life, he has resided in Danbury since 1961 coming from Bethel and was retired from the Viking Wire Company where he work in the laboratory department.

Mr. Franc was a member of the Moose Lodge, Vespucci Lodge, American Legion and the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church of Danbury.

In addition to his wife Rachael of fifty five years, Mr. Franc is survived by a brother Jacob Franc of Bethel; two sisters, Sophie Shail of Danbury and Anna Franc of Bethel; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Mr. Franc is also survived by a sister in law, Mary Tomaino of Danbury and a brother in law, Bruno Tomaino and his wife, Annette of Chatham, NJ.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Danbury.

Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
