Thea Russo

Dorothea “Thea” Russo, 61, of Danbury, wife of Albert A. Russo, died surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at her home.

Thea was born in Binswangen, West Germany, November 24, 1952, daughter of Franz Tomasch of Roundtop, NY and the late Elizabeth (Sowarsch) Tomasch. She immigrated to the United States at the age of eight with her family and first settled in Norwalk, CT where she attended local schools and graduated from Norwalk High School in the Class of 1971.

She was a retired bookkeeper and enjoyed yoga and excursions to the nearby casinos.

Thea and Al were united in marriage on April 21, 1989 and are members of St. Joseph Parish of Danbury.

In addition to her husband and father, Thea is survived by three daughters, Nicole Merrick and her husband, James of Houtzdale, PA, Kimberly A. Russo of Brookfield and Alison T. Russo of Danbury; three sons, Frank V. Scrofani and Joseph R. Scrofani both of Manville, NJ and William C. Russo of New Haven; two brothers, Roy Tomasch and his wife, Lisa and Gordon Tomasch and his wife, Nicole all of Ft. Myers, FL; a sister, Michaela Tomasch also of Ft. Myers, FL; four grandchildren, Jessica Merrick, Kyle Merrick, Emily Smith and Lena Scrofani and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 10 AM in St. Joseph Church, Danbury.

Interment will take place in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury at the direction of the family.

The family will receive friends at St. Joseph Church following the Mass of Christian Burial.
