Dr. Robert P. Porper, 71, a retired oral and maxillofacial surgeon, of Danbury, formerly of Westchester County, NY and husband of Joan (Porter) Porper, died on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Danbury Hospital.
Dr. Porper was born in the Bronx, NY, April 30, 1942, son of Herbert and Lillian (Adelman) Porper. He attended New York schools
Dr. Porper graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University Of Pittsburgh Dental School. He also completed an anesthesia residency at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, in addition to an oral and maxillofacial surgery program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Jacobi Hospital, Bronx NY. 
Throughout his professional career, Dr. Porper focused on providing health care services and developed unique oral care products (i.e., Twinbrush) geared specifically towards the special needs population both young and old. In 1987, Dr. Porper founded a company called CompreServ, Inc., a healthcare management company, in addition to a company called Innovative Health Care Products, Inc.  He also founded and was CEO/President and shareholder of a Mediciaid HMO called CarePlus Health Plan, in New York.

In addition to his wife, Dr. Porper is survived by a son, Jeffrey Porper of Stamford, CT; a daughter, Shannon Morcey and her husband, Peter of Waterbury; a sister, Susan Goldfarb and her husband, Jonathan of White Plains, NY; a granddaughter, Greta and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 11 am in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Monday, March 10, 2014 from 2 pm to 5 pm and 6 pm to 8pm.
