Joseph P. Piskura

Joseph P. Piskura, 82, of Danbury, husband of Nancy (Repko) Piskura, died on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Danbury Hospital.

Mr. Piskura was born in Danbury, November 24, 1931, a son of John and Carolyn (Woodard) Piskura. He was a graduate of Bethel High School in the Class of 1951.

A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, he served from 1951 to 1955.

Mr. Piskura was employed with the Vanderbilt Chemical Company of Bethel for forty years where he was a maintenance mechanic.

A member of the Korean War Veterans Association, he was a member of the V.F.W. of Bethel and St. Joseph Parish of Danbury.

In addition to his wife of fifty-six years, Mr. Piskura is survived by two sons, Joseph P. Piskura and his wife, Mary of Bridgeport, CT and James A. Piskura and his wife, Lorraine of New Fairfield, CT; two grandchildren, Justin Piskura and his wife, Janelle and Katie Piskura; a brother, Richard Piskura of New Fairfield, CT; two sisters, Dorothy Raymond of Florida and Carol Palermo of Oxford, CT and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Piskura was predeceased by a sister, Ann Merrick and by three brothers, Francis Piskura, Louis Piskura and John Piskura.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 8. 2014 at 10 AM in St. Joseph Church, Danbury.

Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury, with military honors.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 5PM to 8PM.
