John W. Morris, Sr.
John W. MorrisJohn W. Morris, Sr., 86, of Ridgefield, husband of the late Alberta (Languell) Morris, died on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Danbury Hospital.
Mr. Morris was born in Warsaw, Indiana, June 26, 1928, son of the Rev. Thurman B. and Mary (Hollingsworth) Morris.
He was educated in schools in the northern part of Indiana where his father served in various parishes and later graduated from the University of Indiana with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Mr. Morris was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and while stationed in Japan, served a part of the honor guard for General Douglas McArthur.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris were married in 1949 and resided in Kokomo, Indiana where he joined Stellite, a division of Union Carbide when in 1967, moved to Stamford to join the operations of Union Carbide in New York, NY. Later, Mr. Morris joined Union Carbide in their operations in Canada moving to Ridgefield in 1977 from Canada to join Union Carbide at their Danbury, CT operations.
Mr. Morris was a compensation specialist with Union Carbide.
Upon his retirement, Mr. Morris was a salesman and counter clerk with the former Bedient Hardware Store of Ridgefield.
