Edward P. Kuczko, MD

Edward P. Kuczko, MD, 87, of Danbury, husband of Mary Anne (Rice) Kuczko, died on Friday, September 12, 2014 at Danbury Hospital.

Dr. Kuczko was born in Danbury, July 31, 1927, a son of Isadore and Stella (Wojcik) Kuczko.

He attended Danbury schools, graduated from Danbury High School-Class of 1944, Niagara University and New York University School of Medicine.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean War and honorably discharged as a 2nd Lieutenant.

Dr. Kuczko served his internship and residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital of Bridgeport where he met a nurse who became his bride of fifty seven years.

He later established his private practice of obstetrics and gynecology in Danbury and served as Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology for several years at Danbury Hospital where he was affiliated in active practice and remained during his retirement.

Dr. Kuczko was one of the first physicians along with Dr. Guido R. Gianfranceschi to establish private practices in the Danbury area specializing solely in obstetrics and gynecology.

Dr. Ed as he would often be called at his parish of St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church was active as a lector and a member of the Order of St. Sharbel.

He was a member of the American Medical Society, Connecticut Medical Society,

Fairfield County Medical Association and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Kuczko was an avid gardener, enjoyed boating on Lake Candlewood and wintering in Florida.

In addition to his wife of fifty-seven years, Dr. Kuczko is survived by two daugthers, Karen G. Skiba and her companion Tony Don and Mary Kathryn Delisle and her husband Vinnie; four grandsons, Michael Skiba and his wife, Kristen, Daniel Skiba, Vince Delisle and Dean Delisle and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dr. Kuczko was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Kuczko.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 6:45 PM in St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 17 Granville Ave., Danbury with the Rev. Naji K. Kiwan officiating.

Private interment will take place in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury on Thursday.

The family will receive friends at St. Anthony Church on Wednesday from 4 pm to 6:30 pm.

Contributions to St. Anthony Church Building Fund would be appreciated.
