Mary Anne (Rice) Kuczko

Mary Anne (Rice) Kuczko, 84, of Danbury, wife of the late Edward P. Kuczko, MD died on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the Cascades of Bethel.

Mrs. Kuczko was born in Bridgeport, CT, July 27, 1930, daughter of Catherine (Whalen) and Joseph H. Rice, Sr. She attended Bridgeport schools and graduated from St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing.

A former obstetrical registered nurse with St. Vincent’s Hospital of Bridgeport and later at the Danbury Hospital; she was last employed as a nurse in the obstetrical and gynecological medical practice of her husband. It was while she was a nurse at St. Vincent’s Hospital that she met a young intern and later resident who became her spouse of fifty-seven years prior to his death on September 12, 2014.

She was active in the life of St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, Mrs. Kuczko was a lector, a member of the prayer group, its Ladies Guild, served as chairperson of the annual bazaar and was a member of the Order of St. Sharbel. She was also a member of the Danbury Garden Club and a past member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Ladies Guild.

In additions to gardening, she enjoyed wintering in Florida.

Mrs. Kuczko is survived by two daughters, Karen G. Skiba and her companion Tony Don and Mary Kathryn Delisle and her husband Vinnie; four grandsons, Michael Skiba and his wife, Kristen, Daniel Skiba, Vince Delisle and Dean Delise; a brother, Joseph H. Rice and his wife Velma and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Kuczko was predeceased by a brother, Firefighter James Rice of Bridgeport.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. in St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 17 Granville Ave., Danbury with the Rev. Naji K. Kiwan officiating.

Private interment will take place in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury on Friday.

The family will receive friends at St. Anthony Church on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.

Contributions to St. Anthony Church Building Fund would be appreciated.
