Edward L. Hutchings

Edward L. Hutchings, 79, of Danbury, husband of Rochelle (Tabachnick) Hutchings, died on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Danbury Hospital.

A son of Warren and Loretta (Bittner) Hutchings, Mr. Hutchings was born in Mt. Kisco, NY, February 1, 1935, and was resided in Brewster, NY where he attended local schools and graduated from Brewster High School.

He later attended Pace University where he attained his Bachelor of Science degree. A salesman with General Foods in earlier years, he became an accountant and established his own practice which he maintained for the past fifty years.

He was a member of the New Milford Business Association and a member of Congregation B’Nai Israel of Danbury.

Mr. Hutchings enjoyed the many friendships established over the years at the Marcus Cardiac Rehabilitation Center at Danbury Hospital.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Hutchings is survived by two sons, James A. Hutchings and his wife, Nancy of Jenkintown, PA and Edward K. Hutchings of Danbury, CT; five daughters, Karen M. Hutchings of Danbury, CT, Anita Hutchings of Washington, DC, Mary Hutchings of Brooklyn, NY, Catherine Bramball and her husband, Justin and Elizabeth Hutchings both of Prescott, AZ and seven grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hutchings was predeceased by a brother, Joseph and by a sister, Patricia.

Graveside funeral services and burial will take place on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at 1 p.m. in the Children of Israel Cemetery, Miry Brook Rd., Danbury with Rabbi Nelly Altenburger of Congregation B’Nai Israel of Danbury officiating.

A Period of Mourning (Shiva) will be observed at 2 East King St., Danbury on Sunday until 9 p.m. with Minyan (Prayer Service) at 7 p.m. and on Monday and Tuesday until 9 p.m. with Minyan at 7 p.m. each evening.
