Jeanette M. Hawthorne

Jeanette M. Hawthorne, 99, of Kent, CT, formerly of Danbury, died on September 3, 2014 at The Kent Specialty Care Center, Kent, CT.

Mrs. Hawthorne was the wife of the late Edward B. Hawthorne.

A Danbury native born in 1915, she was a daughter of William and Minnie (Brundage) Rowley. She was an honor student and graduate of St. Peter School and Danbury High School where she also consistently achieved honor roll status.

She was a graduate of Smith Croft Academy of Beauty and Culture of Bridgeport and subsequently established the former Jean’s Beauty Shop.

A member of “The Cellmates” musical group until 2005, she sang, danced and played the mandolin. Jeanette was also a member of “The Carnival of Clowns” who performed at local nursing homes and was a lifetime member of “The Lioness Club” since 1966.

Jeanette was an avid reader, musician, artist, writer and poet.

She was a member of St. Peter Church of Danbury.

Surviving are three sons. Jon M. Hawthorne, Edward B. Hawthorne and Patrick W. Hawthorne; a daughter, Nancy J. Hawthorne-Rohr; thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hawthorne was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Kathryn Donaldson.

We will love her always and will miss her greatly and all of her shenanigans!

Funeral services will take place on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 9:30 am in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury.

Interment will take place in Wells, VT at the direction of the family.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home on Friday after 9 am.
